Director
Elizabeth S. Critser, PhD, MBA
Dr. Critser received her PhD in 1981 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in the Reproductive Endocrinology-Physiology program. Her thesis work was in the area of early pregnancy recognition in mice. Subsequently she completed a post doctoral fellowship with Dr. Neal First where she worked on a variety of projects in the area of oocyte maturation, in vitro fertilization, early embryo development as well as development of reproductive technologies for domestic animals. She completed a fellowship in the Department of Immunology at the Mayo Clinic, where her primary responsibility was the establishment of transgenic animal technology. In 1987 she accepted the position of Director of Embryology at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. After completing her MBA from Indiana University she assumed administrative responsibilities as Program Director and Laboratory Director until relocating to Columbia MO in 2002. In addition, Dr. Critser is board certified by the American Board of Bioanalysts as a High Complexity Laboratory Director in both Andrology and Embryology.

Senior Research Scientist
Natalia Karasseva, PhD
Dr. Natalia Karasseva received her PhD in January of 1995 from the Institute of Virology, Moscow, Russia in the Molecular Biology Program. Her thesis work was dedicated to the development of diagnostic test of non-structural protein VIF of HIV-1 in the blood samples collected from HIV-1 infected patients. In July of 1995 she joined Biochemistry Department of the University of Missouri, Columbia as post-doctoral fellow. During her post-doctoral training she worked in the area of development of tumor specific diagnostic and therapeutic agents with Dr. Thomas Quinn and later in the area of transcriptional mediators and cell signaling pathways during hypertrophy and atrophy of skeletal muscle with Dr. Richard Tsika. Her research experience involves broad spectrum of skills in recombinant DNA technology, combinatorial Biochemistry and Microbiology. Dr. Natalia Karasseva has been honored with NSF-NATO Postdoctoral Fellowship Award and Missouri Rehabilitation Research Training Fellowship Award in 1996 and in 2000 respectively. Her research study in the area of tumor specific diagnostic agents resulted in registration of U.S. Provisional Patent in 2002. Dr. Natalia Karasseva joined the Transgenic Animal Core in January 2003.
